| First off, I think McCartney is one of the few living legands that will ever have the status of being a true honest to God rock star. Yes we have others. But, this guy just loves putting on a show. And this CD&DVD does just that. I had the pleasure of seeing him at Coachella this year and let me tell you, it was electric. Human beings of all ages were there, I mean all! But back to the review. I bought mine at Best Buy to get the extra disk. I just watched the concert disk and it was wonderful. All the gusto and power of the Coachella show and more. The sound is great the picture crisp and clear. It is nice the way he arranges the song order to move the crowd to many great moods. And the price is a big two thumbs up. The BB copy listed at 24.95 was really 19.95 at the reg! Would have liked more of the last part of Abby Road before The End here but. All in all this is a great pleasure to own. I have the Get back DVD and love it also, but this is an amazing concert.If you love the Beatles and of course Macca Just get it. You will have a great evening of song and sight. Almost an adventure. As the Live and let die portion explodes into. You know, I Saw Pink Floyd during there last tour at the old Cleveland stadium and could not wait for Pulse to be released on DVD so I could watch it over and over and remember that awsome night. Well Mr. McCartney has done the same with this as it is just about the same set list as Coachella. What a night to remember! My advise to you the consumer. BUY IT!!!!!!!!!! |

 Autotuned Paul?????

I'm a HUGE Paul fan. I have everything ever released commercially and not so commercially. I was very much looking forward to this album after hearing bootlegs of the real performance.
But holy cra*! who the heck used Autotune on the vocals???? This is terrible sounding. Sounds like a freakin' robot. Why would he choose to do this?
Listen to ANY of the 'so called' artists these days (madonna, cher, black eyed peas, and pretty much any emo band out there) and you can hear how much singing talent they DON'T have because they've autotuned their voices to death. Paul's vocal pitch at this show did hit a few flat spots (hey, it's live, it happens). They could've possibly tweaked those notes, or better yet, had him sing them over in the studio like most live albums do. But to use Autotune on McCartney??? Sacrilegious to say the least. Autotune can be used with it being less noticeable, but whoever produced this album obviously didn't have a clue on how to use it.
Disappointed to say the least. This will be the first McCartney album that I WON'T be purchasing.
For God Sake Paul- PLEASE do not use this on your future solo albums.
To all of those out there that want the real show, it IS available if you know where to look.
This is a sad day. |

 Good but Expected

From Flaming Pie (1997) to Electric Arguments (2008), McCartney has been on a creative streak. After nine year touring hiatus, McCartney returned to the road starting with Driving Rain tour resulting in his resurgence. In 2007, he released Memory Almost Full but due to mounting divorce proceedings with ex-wife Heather Mills, a tour was stalled even as the album found unexpected commercial success. Unexpectedly, he returned to the critical spotlight with 2008's Electric Arguments, an album that proved that even at 66, a man can still be innovative and creative. The following year, McCartney returned to stage with a summer tour highlighted by McCartney's return to the hollow ground that Shea Stadium was once built on. 44 years later, McCartney returns to perform at the newly erected Citi Field.
Immediately looking at the set list; McCartney's only problem is that he is nostalgia act. The overwhelming majority of the songs performed date back to the 1960s and 1970s. More songs from McCartney's recent repertoire would have made the collection more varied and different from previous live discs. McCartney gives the expected performances of his classics seeing as many of these performances you can catch on Back in the U.S., Live in Red Square, The Space Between US and Live at Glastonbury. The more interesting performances come with "Highway" and "Sing the Changes," which are both well performed even as the sound is slightly altered. "Dance Tonight" gets its live premiere here but it doesn't expand much on its original recording. The criticism I do have here is the rearrangement of the George Harrison composition "Something," which is not as good as the solo version on the ukulele McCartney played on previous tours. "A Day in the Life" is mashed up with John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance." The arrangement is too subdued and lacking seeing as "Give Peace a Chance," while it's not the best composed song is an upbeat sing-along not a moody piano piece. But all in all, Good Evening New York City will not surprise you. It simply a good performance by a classic artist. Its merely a great addition to your McCartney collection.
The best part of this release it the DVD. It is shot rather well and McCartney's band (Rusty Anderson, Brian Ray, Abe Laboriel, Jr. and Wix Wickens) is always in top form. However, a better sounding live package is 2002's Back in the U.S., which contains more newer songs and great mix of full-band songs, piano ballads and unplugged acoustic performances. |

First of all, Let's talk "packaging". If you want to save some money...Amazon.com $13.99 (U.S) ~ But ! If you want the "Ultimate Package" It's a Best Buy "Exclusive" and it is just AWESOME ! $19.99 (U.S.) and well worth it ! It's in a hard bound book form. Beautiful big full color pictures and a Paul McCartney Baseball Card !!!
Well, (In my opinion) I have everything Paul has done. So, I have a "little" investment in Mr. McCartney...this is his finest Live work I have (ever) heard ! Clean Sound,Production and very well put together (Both Audio and Video) His "set list" is different that the "usual" set list from his past efforts. On "Good Evening New York City" you are getting a fantastic mix of older tunes that he hasn't done in years. A lot of different versions to the "classic" songs (more relaxed and comfortable) Paul also "slips in" a little instrumental version of Jimmy Hendrix' "Foxy Lady" in between "Let me Roll It" and "Highway". Move over "Rover" and let "Pauly" take over ! Over all, Just wonderful ! The only thing that I was "disappointed" in was, he didn't do the wonderful song "Freedom" ! Come on Paul, the show was in New York City !!

| This has to be one of the best live shows that I have watched and listened to. Paul sings songs from his solo career, his time with Wings and does a fantastic job on Beatles' hits. His voice is strong, he is enthusiastic and the back up band is tight. If you are a Beatles fan, a Wings fan or a McCartney fan I definitely recommend this CD/DVD.
